But what makes “high-quality service”? What do brokers appreciate most about the insurers they work with?

In the London Market, some service qualities clearly stand out as core attributes if insurers are to be considered for new business. Claims handling, responsiveness and flexibility are all paramount; some brokers explicitly reference the “client-centric approach” and “quick turnaround” that characterise the very best in the Market.

In the UK regional market, we see a similar picture: service elements are absolutely crucial to insurers looking to get their name in the frame for new business. Claims handling, flexibility, timely responses and accessible underwriters are all seen as important by brokers. Responsiveness and quick service distinguish the very top performers from the rest.

With this in mind, congratulations again to our 2024 Underwriting SQM winners: Canopius, Convex, The Hartford and Tokio Marine Kiln in London; Allianz Commercial in the UK regional market; and Arch in both.

Only those insurers which are laser-focused on service are putting themselves in the best position to compete and win.
